How to make a New York Sour (and make a perfect red-wine layer)Though it looks fancy, the New York Sour is actually very simple to make! The only 'hard' part is layering the red wine on top.
Combine the whiskey or bourbon, lemon juice and simple (sugar) syrup in a martini shaker and shake until cold, Strain it into a short glass.
How To Make the Red Wine LayerThis is the fun part! Hold the back of a spoon slightly above the top of the (short)glass. Now gently pour the red wine on top of the spoon into the glass. Because it will hit the spoon first, the red wine settles in an upper layer.
