The mint julep is an iconic beverage that has been around for centuries, renowned for its sweet and refreshing taste. For those who haven't had the pleasure of sampling one, the basic recipe consists of either whisky or brandy combined with a hint of sugar, slices of lemon, and plenty of freshly-picked mint leaves. A few ice cubes provide some additional relief from the summer heat – perfect as a simple afternoon drink on a hot day. The key to making a successful mint julep is ensuring each ingredient is fresh – hand-squeezed lemons, high-quality whiskey, plenty of ice - and not skimping on any steps in the process. It's definitely worth it in the end!
In a highball glass gently muddle the mint, sugar and water.
