What You Will Need


-2 cups of water
-1 cup of sugar
-1/2 cup of dried hibiscus flowers (also known as jamaica or flor de Jamaica)
-A saucepan with a lid
-A fine mesh strainer
-A funnel (optional)


Instructions


STEP 1 : Combine the water, sugar, and hibiscus flowers in the saucepan. Put the lid on the saucepan and bring it to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Once it comes to a boil, reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes.    

                                    

STEP 2. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes. Then strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a container or jar. Discard the solids that are left in the strainer. If desired, use a funnel to pour the syrup into bottles or containers with lids.        

   

        

STEP 3. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks or freeze for longer storage. Use as desired in your favorite beverages!
